I've recently put my transliteration and computer program on hold, partly because i'm attempting to switch from using applescript to Python which would be a much more powerful language. In the meantime I've been keeping a daily journal, writing in shavian as a means of practicing my handwriting as well as transliteration on the fly. It has made me much more comfortable and familiar with the shavian alphabet! :-)

While editing i've noticed difficulties in spelling with shavian. The first was eyes and ice. The second was rise and rice. I ended up deciding that eyes ought to be (𐑲𐑟) and ice ought to be (𐑲𐑕). Rise ought to be (𐑮𐑲𐑟) and rice (𐑮𐑲𐑕). This is not as clean cut as I would like it to be but there it is. In the meantime I noticed that I was mistakenly writing '𐑜' for many words with a 'g' when the actual sound ought to be '𐑡'. Live and learn! :-) (𐑤𐑦𐑝 𐑯 𐑤𐑻𐑯!)
I've finished transliterating the first 8 chapters of one of my favorite books, Dune, by Frank Herbert. I am currently rereading what they program put out and correcting spelling / pronunciation errors. :-P Tedious work!
My poor programing skills coupled with internet tutorials have resulted in an apple-script that, in tandem with a custom built dictionary, can transliterate text from Latin to Shavian. For my own amusement and practice I am currently working on the book Dune, written by Frank Herbert. I am working through chapter 7 and learning as I go.
I have found 24 different fonts for the Shavian Alphabet which is pretty good for a niche hobby. I am working on creating font samples for each and will make a page to direct you to the font creators sites (if you'd like to download them or see their other work). I am converting the fonts that have the Shavian glyphs mapped to the Latin character to a unicode mapping. (The above font images were pulled from a website that is no longer online. I will replaces the images with my own in due time.)

I am continuing to add, upload, edit and experiment both with the website and with my computer. My most recent project is testing how to modify the fonts on my iPhone to allow for the viewing of Shavian glyphs. So far it is partially successful! :-) (If you cannot see the following text please download a Shavian font such as 'esl gothic unicode')
